I'm Moving
04:44
|
|
||
I’m going somewhere
Yes I know
That’s what I always say to you.
Waiting for a signal, or something
Just to get on the move
Yes I’m going, I think I’m going
I like to think that’s what I’m meant to do
Get a move on
So I’m leaving, yes I’m leaving
Put all my stuff in the car and I’ll
Head for the sun, where the light is
Going south, I love it
Look for the blue
The ocean
Find the sun, I’m moving
So let me get there
I have to go
Just open up the front door now
A little bit of courage - I need it
And then I’ll be on my way
All it takes - a bit of effort
Just pack a suitcase, and find the car keys
Get a move on
So I’m leaving, yes I’m leaving
Gonna get away from the wind and the rain and
Feel the sea breeze
on the playa
by the palm trees
Light a fire
Take me higher, take me higher, take me high
Head for the sun, where the light is
Going south, I love it
Look for the blue
The ocean
Find the sun, and.. I’m… moving

What Happened to Love?
04:08
|
|
||
What happened to love
Was it just a young man’s dream
What happened to love
What became of joy and love
Tell me that I’m wrong
Tell me I’m imagining a world gone mad
What happened to love
What became of joy and love
Didn’t see it was fragile
And now it’s slipping away (don’t let it slip away)
What’s the future, can I still be an optimist
It’s not what I thought it was gonna be, and I’m wondering
What happened to the truth
What can I be sure about
What happened to the truth
What became of trust and truth
Tell me what you value
Tell me something’s out there that you admire
What happened to the truth
What became of trust and truth
What’s the future, can I still be an optimist
It’s not what I thought it was gonna be, and I’m wondering

For a While
03:49
|
|
||
We do what we can
We try to stay true
We sing for each other
Like I sang with you
Now I'm gonna go away for a while
I need to hide away for a while
You won't see me round here for a while
Yes I'm gonna be away for a while
I wish you the best
I've loved how we played
So close to each other
Oh the music we made
Now I'm gonna go away for a while
I need to hide away for a while
You won't see me round here for a while
Yes I'm gonna be away for a while
So maybe one day
We'll meet once again
Singing together
Well I'll see you then
Now I'm gonna go away for a while
I need to hide away for a while
You won't see me round here for a while
Yes I'm gonna be away for a while

Blue Genes
05:02
|
|
||
I must have got blue genes
They gave me their blue genes
It feels like blue genes
I must have got blue genes
There was a time some years ago when I felt like I was winning
After losing, after losing half my life (it seemed like it anyway)
And then - you came along with your fun and your face and your smiles and your laughing and your grace
And I said well - maybe things are gonna look up
But they didn’t, did they?
I must have got blue genes
They gave me their blue genes
It feels like blue genes
I must have got blue genes
No matter how much you cheered me up I could feel myself just slipping
Yeah - slipping, slipping and sliding back down again (where I never want to go)
But then the kids turned up with their blankets and their toys and their wide open minds - two girls, three boys
And I said oh come on grandad
and I was OK again for a while
In spite of those blue genes
They gave me their blue genes
It feels like blue genes
I must have got blue genes
But it’s so good to see them learning stuff so fast, they’re growing, they’re well and they’re happy
anticipation, trust and joy there in their eyes (I love seeing that)
And you love them too - why wouldn’t you? Just like your mum and your dad loved you
And I think I hope they’ve got more of her genes - not mine
I must have got blue genes
They gave me their blue genes
It feels like blue genes
I must have got blue genes

Leave It There
04:13
|
|
||
Do you want what I want
Whatever that might be
Do you think like I do
Or is it only me
Have you got what I need
I don’t know what it’s like
Something you can give me
Get me through the night
Put it where you want
I don’t care
You can leave it anywhere
But don’t leave it there
Give it to me now
I need it right here
You can leave it anywhere
But don’t leave it there
Can you see what I see
Somewhere through the blue
I don’t know what I’m doing
I haven’t got a clue
You can go where you want
I don’t care
You can go anywhere
But don’t go there
Come back now
I need you right here
You can go anywhere
But don’t go there
(under)
Falling down, lost the way, what to do. what to say? (x2)
Well I thought life was good
And I loved who you were
Thought the sun shone on me
But I made a big mistake
Put it back where it was
Give me back what I had
What we had was so good
Now It’s all turned so bad
Put it where you want
I don’t care
You can leave it anywhere
But don’t leave it there
Give it to me now
I need it right here
You can leave it anywhere
But don’t leave it there

Why Won't You?
05:15
|
|
||
I can't hear you
What'd you say?
Why won't you
Why won't you stay?
I can't see you
Where'd you go?
Why won't you?
Won't you let me know?
I thought you cared about me like I care about you but I guess I was wrong
I can't touch you
I keep away
Why won't you?
Why won't you stay?
I can't keep you
You're on your way
Why won't you?
Why won't you stay?
I thought you cared about me like I cared about you but I guess I was wrong
You don't know me now, and I guess you never did
You don't know me now, and I wonder why
And I sit here by the window, watching and waiting for you to walk back to me
Stay here - she don't need you
Stay here please
Stay here - she don't need you
Stay here - do
I can't hear you
What'd you say?
Why won't you
Why won't you stay?
I can't see you
Where'd you go?
Why won't you?
Won't you let me know?
I thought you cared about me like I cared about you but I guess I was wrong
You don't know me now, and I guess you never did
You don't know me now, and I wonder why
And I sit here by the window, watching and waiting for you to walk back to me

Slow
03:59
|
|
||
I wait for every morning, I wait again at night
I miss you in the daytime, but it feels all right
I sense it in the evening when the sun goes down and then
It’s the weekend - and I’m coming round again, and I’ll
Take it slow
Take it slow
Take it slow this time
I drive into the country, and then I drive back home again
Maybe play some music but I never quite know when
I get a little edgy, need to calm myself right down
Then it’s Saturday evening, and I’m coming into town, and I’ll
Take it slow
Take it slow
Take it slow this time
When the summer months are over, and the leaves begin to fall
I’m sitting by he window, I’m waiting for your call.
And now the phone is ringing, and I wonder what you’ll say
You’re coming round to my place, this time you say you’ll stay, and we’ll
Take it slow
Take it slow
Take it slow this time

Yeah
03:04
|
|
||
Can we go out for the day
I said Yeah
She said “where you want to go”
I said “anywhere”
So we took the train to Liverpool
And then we sat there wondering what to do, ooh
And I said “I know”
And then we started walking
We looked here there and everywhere
Right down to the Albert Dock - ah
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
The big blue coach was waiting
Looked just like the one I’d seen before, years before
So we got on.
The Beatles songs were playing
As we drove down Penny Lane
And then they played She Loves You, I said
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
Then down to Strawberry Fields
Passing all their houses on the way, hey hey
And we end up in the Cavern
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
I was in Beatle heaven
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

Uncle Wally and Uncle Steve Hebden Bridge, UK
Steve and Wally live in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire.
They're knocking on a bit, but still
planning on livin' the dream some time soon...
Sound on Sound magazine's Nell McCloud said of their first album 'Songs From a Shed':
"a tribute to just about every musical genre of the past 100 years, all in 49 and a half minutes. Bonkers? Undoubtedly. Successful? Partly. Enjoyable? Um, yes, yes it is."
